FAQs

How are coaches selected to coach which teams?

There are several variables that are considered when deciding what team each coach will be assigned to, including; qualifications, experience, coaching style, and coaching preference. We recognize the importance of having our most qualified and experienced coaches assigned to our oldest, and most competitive teams, and every effort is made to do so.

Do the children of coaches automatically get placed on the team that their parent coaches?

No. Coaches who have children play for the club, at the age level at which they coach, are not assigned a team until it is determined which team their child will play for.

Do Durham Attack coaches get paid?

Coaches receive an honorarium at the end of each season. The amount each coach receives is dependent upon several criteria, including; experience, certification and training, age and competitive level of the team as well as commitment. Honorariums range between $600 and $3000. Executive members also receive an honorarium, ranging between $1000 and $3000, depending on years with the club, and responsibilities in their portfolios.

Do Coaches and Executive Members with the club have to pay for their children to play with the club?

If my child is on a team of 10, do I pay more than a parent of a child on a team of 11 or 12?

No. All athletes at a particular age level will pay the exact same amount as all other athletes at that age level, regardless of the team they play for, or the number of athletes on that team. The cost per athlete is determined by dividing the total cost of the total number of teams at a certain age level, by the number of athletes at that age level.

Is Team12 Training mandatory?

Yes. We believe that being an elite athlete requires more than just practice and tournament play. The best athletes have developed a habit of maintaining their personal level of fitness by regularly participating in sport specific physical training, led by a qualified instructor.

What is DA Cares?

As a community-based organization, we believe that it is important for our athletes to recognize the value of “giving back”. Each team is expected to participate in a “giving back” initiative at some point during their season. This initiative not only allows the athletes to experience the worthwhile value of “giving back” to their community but also as a wonderful team building exercise. Past examples of “giving back” include volunteering at food banks and soup kitchens, food and coat drives, park and school property clean ups, and volunteering at retirement centres, to name only a few.
