Kira is returning to Durham Attack to coach our 14U team and we are excited to have her back. She is a secondary school teacher with the DDSB where she coaches volleyball athletes between the ages of 14 and 18. Kira has worked as a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach with DA at the 12-14U level as well as working as a coach with house league. She still plays volleyball herself and is eager to teach these young athletes the core skills they will need to be a successful lifelong volleyball athlete.

Dennis Sallans is returning as the Head Coach of Inferno with a plan to continue with the team’s success and growth. Dennis has been with the club for four years and his dedication to athlete development is evident in his work with athletes. The belief in developing life-long volleyball enthusiasts is at the core of the work he does. A teacher by trade, Dennis wants the athlete to continue learning in order to develop skills, be a good teammate, and continue to have fun during competition. He is excited to see athletes grow as they develop.

In her forth year with DA, Jill will be the Head Coach for Spirit. As an elementary school teacher, Jillian has over 15 years of coaching athletes between the ages of 10-14. She is able to develop the skill and passion for volleyball, but also fosters important life skills such as teamwork, respect, communication, confidence, and leadership

Stacy Carli is returning for her third year as a Head Coach with Durham Attack. A long-time member of the club as a parent, Assistant coach and Board Member, Stacy understands the importance of helping athletes develop not only their technical skills but also the social and mental skills required to play competitive sports. A long-time member of the Scarborough Solars Volleyball Club, Stacy understands the integral part sport can play in an athlete’s life and is dedicated to supporting them as they learn from their successes and grow from the challenges. Stacy speaks often about volleyball being a game of “errors” and the importance of developing the strength of character needed to move forward and on to the next point. Her athletes love her and are excited to play volleyball while competing and pushing themselves to new heights.

Jason Stanat has been a Durham Attack fixture for almost ten years coaching athletes in both the girl’s and boy’s programs from ages 12-18 and is returning as the Head Coach of Fierce for the 24-25 season. As a teacher with the DDSB and a community coach in not only volleyball but also lacrosse, Jason is passionate about developing youth through sport. With his attention to fundamentals, Jason supports athletes as they develop their physical literacy and technical skills. However, what is even more important is the way that Jason shares his love of sports with his athletes creating an inclusive environment where they are eager to learn, try new skills, and grow and learn Jason has also served on the DA Executive supporting the club through further growth and development, especially within the boy’s programs.

Melissa has been a member of the DA coaching staff for many years, assuming both Head Coach and Assistant Coach roles, and is excited to be returning as the 17U Fury Head Coach role for the upcoming season. As an athlete, Melissa played her club career with Ganaraska Wolves, and her post secondary career with Niagara College. Melissa has been a Head Coach at the 12-14U level, and an Assistant Coach at the 15-18U level. During her coaching career, Melissa has been a part of successful coaching staffs achieving both Provincial and Nationals titles, with most recent accolades including the 14U 2023 National Championship (Halifax, NS) and 14U 2024 National Championship (Richmond, BC). While these successes are to be celebrated, Melissa touts her greatest coaching achievement as having been awarded the 2022 Volleyball Canada 14U National Fair Play Award. What makes Melissa special as a coach is her ability to create a safe and fun environment where athletes are challenged to take the risks required to learn and grow, both on and off the court. Ensuring that every athlete is valued and feels a sense of belonging is the foundation of Melissa’s coaching philosophy. The environment she creates in the gym embodies the epitome of “team”, and we are excited to have her back in the Head Coaching position for the 2024-2025 season.

Kevin Leung has taken on the role of Head Coach for Chaos and brings with him a deep enthusiasm for the sport and the team. He is thrilled to continue working with this group of athletes and is impressed by their performance and potential.
A long-time volleyball enthusiast, Kevin is passionate about fostering opportunities for young athletes—not only to develop their skills and love for the game but also to grow personally through sport. His experience extends beyond coaching; he has served as a volleyball referee and is actively involved in the 9-man volleyball community.
When Kevin isn’t on the volleyball court, you can often find him at the baseball diamond. He dedicates his time to coaching and coordinating Challenger Baseball in Pickering, where he continues his commitment to youth sports and inclusive athletic programs.

Robin Kidd will be returning as the Head Coach with Crush. Entering his fifth year with DA, his dedication to developing athletes is evident to all who have worked with him. Robin has coached both male and female teams in his career and is a certified Development Coach. Robin has coached previously with Unity and the Scarborough Titans and has been a member of both the Regional and Team Ontario Summer Programs. Having just finished the season as the 18U Blaze coach, his understanding of the game at the senior level and the myriad of individual and team skills needed to play at this level as well as post collegiate, is exemplary. His commitment to developing and mentoring athletes is at the forefront of everything Robin does and he focuses his energy on continual growth and improvement. Robin continues to be active in the game himself playing both indoor and on the beach. This year, Robin is being honoured by the OVA with a Recognition of Achievement Award.

Kourtney’s volleyball resume is extensive. A graduate of Uxbridge Secondary school she wore the Tiger stripes. Her club career was played with the Stouffville Stingrays and her collegiate career as a member of Durham College. She began her coaching career at Durham College as an assistant, coaching there for 6 years. Kourtney has also been a 14u coach with the Team Ontario program. As a female mentor, Kourtney is able to share her volleyball journey and provide mentorship to athletes as they play through the good times and the bad times and plan for their success in the postsecondary game or as lifelong volleyball athletes and coaches. Her passion for the game is evident and we are so excited to have her sharing this love of the game with female athletes.
