Overview of Responsibilities

The Lead Instructor is an independent contractor responsible to the Director(s) of the Durham Attack Learn To Play program and the DA Director of Recreational Programming, providing technical delivery, instruction, leadership and engagement with the Club's coaches and athlete counsellors.

The Lead Instructor will be responsible for running the designed Learn To Play program at an alternate location, and for leading and delivering the program material alongside athlete volunteer instructors.

Requirements, Knowledge and Experience

  • Preferably a current Durham Attack member — ideally an adult Head or Assistant Coach in good standing within the DA Rep Team program, or an alumnus.
  • High energy, inclusive and a clear communicator.
  • More than one season of coaching experience or working with children is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the fundamental skills within the Volleyball Canada Long Term Development (LTD) Model for the FUNdamentals and Learning to Train stages.
  • Organized and detail oriented.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend all scheduled dates, arriving on time for venue set-up and game plan.
  • Represent Durham Attack Volleyball Club in a fun, inclusive and positive manner at all times.
  • Run the provided Learn To Play program at our secondary location.
  • Assist in the identification of athletes for future Club participation.
  • Assist the LTP Director with daily activity direction, drill demonstrations, delivery of information and organization of the program.
  • Oversee and help guide, mentor and manage the athlete counsellors.
  • Actively promote the program vision and underlying philosophy to the Club's varied stakeholders and the general volleyball community.
  • Maintain a strong customer-focused approach with the Club's membership, ensuring effective communication with players and parents.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time-to-time by the Director(s).
